Water does not simply appear at a lunar tap. It arrives as ice, passes through bodies, is gathered from air and returns to a morning glass. In a city of 100,000, every drop has a long history.
Circulation is not enduring old water. It is the work of making water safe and desirable again, every time.
Ice reaches the city before it becomes water.
Ice from extraction sites remains isolated while crews test its composition, particles and volatiles. Meltwater is separated by use; only the drinking stream passes through every purification and quality stage.
No single supply is allowed to carry the city. Extracted ice, recovered water, reserves and emergency synthesis from oxygen and hydrogen overlap so that a distant shutdown cannot stop today's kitchens.
